There are some important dates to keep in mind this October. First of all, we should recognize the month as a whole. Awareness for Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence charitable organizations is heightened during this time as October has been dubbed their specific awareness month. You're asked to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer awareness and purple in support of Domestic Violence awareness for the whole month. Also, we encourage you to get on social media and take a stand for both of these causes! These issues effect more people than you think.
If you didn't already know (like me), October 12th is National Kick Butt Day (and also Columbus Day). Not considered a true holiday of course, but we recognize the empowerment behind it. Have you brainstorming new ideas with your team? Present them to your boss on the 12th. You'll really kick the world’s butt that day.
October 16th is home to National Boss's Day. Show your appreciation for that person you interact with everyday. Just tell them you're giving them the day off and maybe you'll get one too!
Celebrate my favorite person's birthday on the 25th! It is Chris's golden birthday in which he will be 25 on the 25th. A very special birthday this year; wish him a happy birthday in the comments section!
Another birthday to celebrate is that of Hillary Clinton. I'm not in to politics but I am in to emojis and now Hillary, like the Pope, has some! Share the birthday wishes on the 26th by downloading Text With Hill and tweet to her.
Lastly, be a kid again and celebrate the spookiest day of the year on October 31st. That's right, Halloween falls on a Saturday this year making it a prime time to get dressed up and eat too much candy. We are very excited about our costumes this year and you should be too!
So mark your calendars with these devour the detail-worthy dates in October and don't forget to support Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Awareness by wearing pink and purple all month long!

Monday Mashups: Scary but Pretty
In honor of Halloween being three weeks away, we thought it was only necessary to start putting together some of our horrifyingly awesome posts! This one was actually inspired by the 'Scream Queens' premiere party. The show has a scary plot but with funny and elegant twists. So it only made sense that their premiere party centerpieces would be bloody butcher knives in a bouquet of pretty pastel flowers.
It does the trick, right? Well here are a few more that we think might subtly scare your guests but are still pretty pieces to have during any Halloween activities this year. Let us know your favorites in the comment section below.
These creepy crawlers are hard to see at first but when you get closer you won't be happy. You won't want to wake up and smell these roses!
This wire tree candle holder total gives us the creeps. It almost looks like it's moving!
We're spooked by this skull full of flowers. At night time this would totally freak us out!
Dark and gloomy is an understatement. We love the simplicity of using the raven in this piece. We've totally got the chills!
Clear wine bottles as candle holders give a ghastly glow. The way the wax melts onto the bottles reminds us of a witch's lair.
Get creative and devour the details of our Monday Mashup--scary but pretty Halloween inspired centerpieces! You'll have your guests totally spooked and asking how you came up with these awesome ideas!

Fall Fun: Visit the Best Bogs This Weekend!
As I sit here and sip my cranberry tea *sips tea*, I thought it was only fitting to share some bogs to visit this weekend! Add this to the list of Fall activities you want to do this year. Go ahead and pick your apples and carve your pumpkins but don't forget about the unsung hero of every Thanksgiving Day meal. Check out the best bogs to visit for some Fall fun!
Mayflower Cranberries
At the Plympton cranberry bog, you can don a pair of waders, and have a go at being an actual cranberry grower by helping with the harvest. Count me in! They also have viewing tours of the harvest process. Really make a day of it visiting this bog!
Stone Bridge Farm
A small family run farm in Acushnet, Stone Bridge Farm hosts a weekly farmers market in addition to tours beginning in October. The tours include info about the bogs, ample photo opportunities for that perfect Fall Instagram, and you can pick your own cranberries to accompany your turkey.
Cape Cod Cranberry Bog Tours
Offering a tour of not one, but three cranberry bogs of varying ages and varieties. The tour also features information about the history of cranberry growing in the area, and a small museum containing antique and modern cranberry tools and equipment. Learn to love cranberries as much as I do!
A.D. Makepeace Company
Offering three public tours this Fall season, guests can see the A.D. Makepeace cranberry wet harvest located in Wareham. They also have private tours available for groups of 10 or more year round. There’s a country market on site with many cranberry products, baked goods, sandwiches, ice cream, and gifts. What a unique opportunity!
Flax Pond Farms
The 100-plus acres of Flax Pond Farms in Carver includes cranberry bogs, ponds, reservoirs, a swamp, a blueberry patch, Christmas trees, and active wildlife. Their daily Fall cranberry bog tour shows off their growing facilities, farming equipment, screening house, and a gift shop. Get your cranberries and blueberries in one stop!
Chamberlain Farms
This family-owned farm located in Berkley has been growing its main crop of butternut squash since 1969. In the mid 90's they added cranberry bogs, which can be toured by the public or on school field trips. They also have a wooden pavilion which they use to host private parties, weddings, and functions. Is there anything more Fall than butternut squash and cranberries? Well maybe something pumpkin related--but this is still exciting!
I hope you're as excited about these bogs as I am! Devour the details of these fun Fall activities and let me know which bogs you prefer!
