Move over, Polar Express; there’s another magical train spreading holiday cheer. All aboard! “The Train to Christmas Town,” is now departing from Buzzards Bay! This is the fourth year that Cape Cod Central Railroad is offering the event, based on Peggy Ellis’s book by the same name. We can promise you, you'll feel the holiday magic in the air as soon as you arrive!
During the 70-minute ride, families travel to “Christmas Town,” or the North Pole while drinking hot cocoa, eating cookies, singing Christmas carols, and listening to a reading of The Train to Christmas Town. Once at Christmas Town, the train picks up Santa and his elves, and Santa gives each child a treat.
It also mimics the plot of Ellis’s book, which describes the adventures of a little girl named Janice and her brother. The siblings ride the train to Christmas Town alone for the first time because their grandmother can’t make the trip. They share seats with animals and meet elves serving cocoa and cookies before Santa Claus arrives.
On the train ride, as the book is read on board, the characters come out as they’re mentioned in the story. Kids get to meet Wabash the squirrel, Zephyr the cat, and Bumblebee the polar bear. They can also hunt for small stuffed animal characters from the book, like mice Bubble and Squeak, amid the train’s five cars as they take their seats.
The "Train to Christmas Town" captures the spirit of the season with its warmth and charm. Trust us, there's no better way to get ready for this holiday--your family will truly love it! Join us this winter and devour the details of a Christmas dream come true. For more information and ticket prices, check out Cape Cod Central Railroad.

Wedding Wednesdays: How to Plan a Perfect Day of Dress Shopping
Dress shopping doesn't have to be stressful! Make it the perfect day by planning ahead. Before you make an appointment, consider these five tips to getting the most out of your bridal experience! And don't forget to bring the bubbly!
Tip #1: Call Ahead and Make a Game Plan
While most of us do our usual shopping by popping into our favorite stores on a whim and unannounced, wedding dress shopping takes a bit more planning. You will want to start shopping 6-8 months before your wedding date to allow for time to have your dress come in and several alteration appointments after you find “the one.” Make sure to call ahead to the stores you’re going to want to visit, and they will set up an appointment for you so that a retail associate can give you their full attention and help you find the dress of your dreams.
Once you have a dress appointment, decide on who will be joining you that day and make sure they put it in their calendars! You'll need their undivided attention for the whole day. It’s also a great idea to get to your appointment 5-10 minutes early so that you can browse the racks of dresses before you dig into all the details.
Tip #2: Go into Your Appointment Prepared
You’ll want to have as many details in mind for the dress consultant as possible. Here are some good questions to keep in mind: What time of year are you getting married? What will the weather be like? Will it be a formal affair or a casual one? Then as far as your taste goes, you will probably be asked what silhouette, fabric, and embellishments you have in mind. But don’t worry too much about having a specific wedding dress vision. It’s good to stay open-minded! You never know what you’ll feel best in, so don’t box yourself into one category of dresses.
Another important piece of information to know ahead of time is your dress budget. There’s nothing worse than falling in love with a gown just to discover that it’s out of your price range. Not to mention, it’s such a waste of time trying on dresses that you won’t end up buying. So, tell your sales associate right away what you are expecting to pay.
Tip #3: Look at the Dress from All Angles
On your wedding day, you will be photographed at so many different moments, and seen by your guests from all angles. So, it’s a good idea to make sure you are viewing your wedding dress from all angles before you decide it’s the one. We even recommend having someone snap some photos of you at different angles so you can see how the dress photographs. And, it’s nice to have those photos with you while your dress goes to alterations, so that you can remember each beautiful detail (just don’t let your groom sneak a peek on your phone!).
Tip #4: Focus on the Fit
When you’re trying on dresses during your shopping day, make sure you’re narrowing in on dresses that flatter your figure and make you feel good! You’ve probably heard it before, but there’s truth to the saying that “it’s all about the fit.” It doesn’t matter whether you love a dress that has lace, embellishments or tulle if the fit isn’t right. On your wedding day, you will want to feel your best without fidgeting or adjusting areas of your dress constantly.
Tip #5: End the Day with a Celebration
Once you’ve said “yes!” to your dream dress, it’s time to celebrate! We recommend ending your day of dress shopping with a celebratory lunch…and some champagne, of course! You’ll be able to reminisce about the moments of the day and relax while you enjoy your meal.
Don't stress! Say yes to your dress and devour the details of a perfect day of shopping with these helpful planning tips!

Monday Mashups: Ocean Spray Holds Thanksgiving Boot Camp
Each year, nearly 20 million Americans prepare to deliver a Thanksgiving feast for the first time ever. Ocean Spray wanted to do its part to help these newbies by inviting them to their recent brand activation at Rockefeller Center. The festive, multi-generational event on November 1 whipped guests into holiday-hosting shape at the Thanksgiving-themed boot camp with CranMas (that's grandmas, Ocean Spray style) and celebrity chef Curtis Stone providing instruction.
To create the perfect autumnal experience for the holiday-entertaining course, Arnold Worldwide—Ocean Spray’s long-time brand experience agency—enlisted design and production partner Tyger Productions. Led by Ty Kuppig, Tyger has partnered with Arnold and Ocean Spray on numerous projects across the country, including the Thanksgiving Then & Now event for Ocean Spray at Rockefeller Center in 2015.
Before press and influencer invitees entered the 20- by 60-foot cranberry bog, they first visited four stations where they learned a different skill for the Thanksgiving holiday. These included how to welcome guests with a crafted cocktail, hacks for impressive side dishes, techniques for preparing the turkey, and “Setting the Scene”—how to set the perfect table. We could've totally used an invite to this boot camp! After making their way through the stations, guests were invited to join Ocean Spray’s CranMas and Chef Stone to sit down for an early Thanksgiving meal in the cranberry bog.
To create a more intimate experience and suggest a dinner under the canopy of a fall forest, Tyger Productions constructed a 12-foot-tall by 36-foot-long arbor covered in autumn foliage surrounded by live cranberry turf installed by a professional horticulturalist. In addition to creating a cozy cocoon for the press and influencers while they dined, the arbor created a social media-friendly statement that could easily be seen over the heads of the crowd, adding further excitement and inviting passersby to watch from the sidelines.
Tyger pulled inspiration from Arnold’s CranMa concept to design an environment that elicited a sense of nostalgia, displaying traditional elements that evoked grandmothers with more contemporary touches that a first-time holiday host might incorporate from their own home. Mismatched vintage china was paired with modern rose-gold flatware. Cut crystal stemware was mixed with vintage embossed glass and new cranberry-red goblets. Handmade crocheted table runners were paired with rose-gold glass candleholders. The 32-foot-long dining table in the center of the bog was anchored by oversize autumnal floral arrangements of lush blossoms, greens, and fruits.
Following the lunch, and to emphasize the health benefits of the cranberry, yoga was held at the bog the next day, as well as a spin class with Vitamix blenders attached to each bike to blend a cranberry smoothie. In addition, Ocean Spray team members handed out samples of its various cranberry products.
The New York activation was part of a five-city “Bogs Across America” tour. Tyger Productions created three different-sized bogs that were featured in Hollywood (at an indoor venue), Washington, Chicago, and New York, and culminated outside the Prudential Center in Boston. Only the New York location served lunch. Ocean Spray sure knows how to devour the details of a cranberry-filled Thanksgiving! We hope these tips and tricks inspire you for future Turkey Days to come.

Wedding Wednesdays: What to Wear to a Winter Wedding
The colder weather is upon us! Winter weddings are in full effect. Wondering what you should wear to the next chilly celebration? We got you covered! Check out this style advice for both male and female wedding guests.
The most important thing to remember when shopping for wedding attire is that you want to look stylish and respectful. You don't want to distract from the bride and groom or draw attention for the wrong reasons.
For women, a winter wedding is the perfect excuse to wear your most fun and festive dress. When shopping for winter wedding outfits, keep an eye out for head-to-toe sequins or luxe, jewel-toned fabrics like emerald green, ruby and royal blue. These colors work on almost every skin tone and you'll definitely find an excuse to re-wear them during the holiday season (office parties, New Year's Eve, etc.). You'll also want to keep fabrics in mind. Wedding guest dresses made of heavy fabrics, like tweed or velvet, will keep you warm during a chilly evening celebration. Pair a shorter dress with opaque black tights and closed-toe pumps. Avoid wearing boots (even if they're heeled), as they can appear too casual. But in case of a freak snowstorm, it's definitely okay to wear your boots to the ceremony and change into your heels once you're inside!
Men should follow similar guidelines and shop for a dark-colored wool suit to keep warm and stylish. Also try dressing in layers: Throw a zip-up sweater over your shirt and tie and under your jacket for extra insulation and warmth. But the most important thing men need to remember is to manscape. beards and mustaches are okay, as long as you clean up stray hairs!
Here are some examples provided by TheKnot.com:
1. This mini is totally winter appropriate with its long sleeves and heavier fabric. Plus, we love the lace-up style. Balmain Lace-up knitted mini dress, $2,935, Net-a-Porter.com

3. A body-hugging burgundy dress with long sleeves is the perfect combination of sexy and festive for a winter wedding. Donna Mizani Knot front midi dress, $60, RevolveClothing.com

Monday Mashups: Warped Tour, the End of an Era
After 24 years of straight summer smashers, Vans Warped Tour will be a wrap in 2018. Warped Tour built its brand of a “punk-rock summer camp” by bringing out scene staples like NOFX and Bad Religion numerous times. But it was also an early champion of bands like Blink-182, No Doubt, and Paramore -- punkers eventually embraced by the pop world. And outside of punk entirely, Warped’s past lineups are riddled with pre-superstardom misfit toys who found an early home amongst the skate shows and merch tents: Katy Perry, Eminem, Kid Rock, the Black Eyed Peas, G-Eazy, Bebe Rexha. Their ranks were rarely favorites of critics, but they no doubt shaped culture. A culture that will live on long after the end of this era.
According to producer Kevin Lyman, who founded the fest in 1995, numerous factors -- including an evolving summer festival industry, a shrinking pool of bands, and declining ticket sales amongst its teenage demographic -- led him to declare the tour’s 24th year its last. But Warped still has one final summer’s worth of dates on the road. No artists have been confirmed, and in fact, Lyman is still filling the bill, hoping some Warped icons will hop on to make the last hurrah extra special.
We have to share this one snippet of Lyman's interview with Billboard Music, as he reflects on the 2005 Warped Tour experience:
"That was the summer of Warped and TRL, you know? We seemed to be perfectly in line. It was also the year Warped Tour almost collapsed under its own success. These kids got off their couches from TRL in the afternoon then came to Warped. But they weren't ready to be out in the sun. And the medical we had to deal with on that tour. All these kids didn't eat breakfast. They didn't go to the bathroom. Drink water! As soon as they band started, they’d pass out."
"The hardcore fans were like, “You sold out!” And I was like, “No, it just happened..." I had booked Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance a year ahead of time, because I had them on Warped Tour when they were in vans. And I was like, “This is good music. This is gonna break.” That was the first time I ever booked bands a year ahead of time."
Unfortunately, we too have been on the verge of passing out at many FOB concerts. Blame it on our youthful angst and naivety. It was always worth it!
After coming on as an initial sponsor in 1995, Vans became Warped’s primary sponsor the following year and it’s been the Vans Warped Tour ever since. he son of Vans co-founder Paul Van Doren, he’s been a fixture on the tour since that first summer, distributing stickers in the Vans tent at center festival, flipping burgers at their nightcap barbecues each evening. But he, too, echoes Lyman’s sentiment. Though it may be difficult, we can all agree to respectfully go along for the ride as this era comes to an end. With that said, you will most definitely catch us at Vans Warped Tour 2018 devouring the details of this last hooray. See you there!

Wedding Week 2017: Vinum Wine Shop
You may be wondering why we're featuring a wine shop as a wedding vendor. Well, Vinum Wine Shop is so much more than your ordinary wine store. Owners, John and Samantha Miller, have quite the story as to how they got started and are here to help with all of your wine and wedding needs!
Vinum Wine Shop located in Middleton, MA was established in 2015. John Miller went to school for aerospace engineering. After being a flight instructor for many years and needing a change, he moved to Boston and started learning about wines from the retail store he was working for. He was eventually scooped up by a wine distributor who recognized his passion and talent. From there, his education continued.
John traveled to Spain, France, Italy, and all over the United States tasting different wines and has some amazing stories to share. He took his knowledge to the next level and began teaching at Boston Center for Adult Education. During his 20+ years of experience, he helped others start some great wine shops and has always loved talking to the customers and sharing the wine experience. John spent the better part of his career working with smaller wineries, ones which work hard to make their farming practices sustainable. By working with smaller wineries and putting their products on shelves Vinum is in the unique position to get you wines from wineries that spend their time and money on putting the best wine in the bottle.
Samantha went to college to be an elementary school teacher and currently teaches pre-school. Over the last 20 years, she has worked in a number of restaurants as a bartender, manager, and server. She met John when he helped develop the wine list for 75 Chestnut in Boston. She took a couple of his classes at Boston Center for Adult Education and she was smitten...with wine (and John too of course)!
Wine isn't the only beverage Vinum focuses on! Vinum Wine Shop has cultivated an amazing, fun, always changing cold craft beer selection. They have beers that are delivered directly from top notch breweries, both local beers and rare beers. Vinum tastes every beer that comes in and they encourage guests to mix up a six-pack and try something new. Maybe you're not the creative type, or maybe it's beer for someone else, but John, Samantha and their experienced staff can help you or direct you to some of the best hand-selected sampler packs. You won't be disappointed!
This store has a lot of pride in what they do! The staff at Vinum Wine Shop prides themselves on their hand selected wine and craft beer selection. They've chosen wines from small producer wineries and try to stay with family opened and sustainable properties. They make a concerted effort to cultivate a selection that is ever evolving and helps introduce customers to new and interesting wines and craft beers. The team also takes pride in educating and sharing with their customers. Taking the opportunity to taste some of the Vinum selections helps customers and the store find what we all like best.
All of that means Vinum always has wine open, craft beer, and monthly meads from 1634 Meadery, available to try because if you taste it...you'll see it is all spectacular. Vinum Wine Shop also offers unique wedding party gifts. They provide reusable wooden crates, customizable with names, dates, or monograms, the include 24 unique craft beers, wrapped in your wedding colors.
Vinum would also love to host your wedding party events! These celebrations can be customized to suit 15-25 people. Whether a beer and wine tasting or game night, they will work with you to create a memorable night, that everyone will enjoy. Vinum Wine Shop has an in house caterer that can make your event one of a kind. The perfect way to celebrate with your closest friends and family!
Needless to say, our new favorite place is Vinum Wine Shop. We can't wait to visit John, Samantha and their team and devour the details of the most perfect wines and craft beer the North Shore has to offer!

Wedding Week 2017: Brilliant Ice Sculpture
Welcome to Wedding Week 2017! After attending Seasons Bridal Show last weekend, we have a number of vendors to introduce to you. First up, Brilliant Ice Sculpture out of Lawrence, MA!
Brilliant Ice Sculpture was founded by Donald Chapelle whose 33-year affection for carving has elevated the Boston ice carving scene. Donald's professional ice carving began at age 18 including a seven year post at Brookline Ice and Coal while Executive Chef at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, later he sculpted ice at the Ice Box in Roslindale, MA.
While employed for four years as a Chef De Partite at the prestigious five star Hilton International in Geneva, Switzerland and Vienna, Austria, Donald Chapelle worked and trained with Japanese ice sculptors creating ground breaking sculptures for thousands of functions and outdoor events. His years of experience contribute to the thought and creativity that goes into each ice sculpture.
Brilliant Ice is also an environmentally friendly company! Their building is powered by rooftop solar panels installed in 2012 by owner. At the end of the night when the party is over, Brilliant Ice's sculptures will end up watering trees, vegetable gardens or flower beds as opposed to filling up dumpsters then landfills. They create cutting edge yet sustainable products that help minimize the impact of waste created by the hospitality industry for event planning. They also deliver 95% of their sculptures with low-emission vehicles.
Don and his crew reuse or recycle their plastic drip trays, lights and foam when used. Their entire plant is heated by the freezer condensers only. They recycle remaining ice from ice sculpture production to chill the water for the next batch of ice blocks, an energy savings of 25% per block. Brilliant Ice Sculpture creates very little waste materials other than organic earth-healthy waste; minimal plastic is used in the making of ice blocks which is reused several times for packing materials. They use only natural ingredients and do not use chemicals of any kind in the process of creating these amazing sculptures. Lastly, only organic cleaning products are used in the cleaning of their facility.
Ice carvings have been with us since the early 1500's and like fine wine, art and music, ice sculptures dazzle guests because of their incredible beauty. Ice sculpture’s purity, refractive capabilities, and endless applications elevate any festive occasion as a stand alone piece or when associated with a display. Functional ice sculptures enhance otherwise mundane displays of food and beverage to another level.
You can elevate a raw bar, caviar display, sushi station, fruit station with a Brilliant Ice sculpture. You can also showcase your signature drink with these decorative beverage servers or shooter stations! With a functional ice sculpture, the end result is always amazing.
