Frog Pond to host Sea of Floating Pumpkins

Frog Pong, a well-known spot in Boston Common, is a cherished reflecting pool in the spring and fall months, a spray pool throughout the summer, and of course an ice skating rink in the winter. It brings much joy to the families of Boston and is a huge attraction for those tourists visiting our great city. We ourselves have some of the fondest memories of fun activities at this treasured pond! Frog Pond hosts a number of events all year long and to no surprise because of its past success, on Sunday, October 23rd, they will again have Mayor Marty Walsh's Fall Pumpkin Float (and we couldn't be more excited)!

This is your chance to get glimpse of a sea of floating jack-o'-lanterns. Not something you get to see everyday (or even during the spookiest month of the year). From 4:30-6:30PM, attendees will be able to see hundreds of lit up carved pumpkins floating on the Frog Pond water and participate in fun and spooky activities. Participants should bring 8-inch or smaller carved pumpkins that will then be illuminated and floated on the pond for a ghostly early evening display. Various carved jack-o’-lanterns from sports teams and organizations by local artists will also be on display.

The free event will feature various family-friendly activities, including a haunted zombie maze, a magician, the L.L. Bean Bootmobile, arts and crafts, an IKEA selfie booth with costumes to try on, games and giveaways by Magic 106.7, science activities, and a variety of Halloween-themed scary-good-snacks and refreshments. It is encouraged for event-goers to wear Halloween costumes. However, we recommend staying away from any clown-like costumes due to the recent scares and news stories. Children will also be able to decorate luminary bags, which will be exhibited along the edge of the pond; a cool little addition to the pumpkin display. And after the event, all pumpkins will be donated to The Trustees of Reservations to be composted. How awesome is that?
