When one of your favorite magazines plans a 30th anniversary party in Paris, what do you do about it? Post about it in your blog of course. A big shout out to Elle magazine for 30 wonderful years of success and to Keira Knightley being on your celebratory cover! The idea for the portfolio has been about 18 months in the making and revved and rearing to go this September!
Robbie Myers, who celebrates 15 years as editor in chief of Elle this year, worked with her creative director Alex Gonzalez on how to adequately communicate the glossy’s place in fashion to acknowledge its 30th anniversary. Kevin O’Malley, senior vice president, publisher and chief revenue officer of Elle crowed about the success of the September issue from a business standpoint saying this is the largest issue that Elle and/or Hearst has ever published. He wants to give kudos to Robbie Myers and her team, gushing that "it’s not just the largest issue; it’s good content".
The issue, which will go out to subscribers this week, hits national newsstands officially on August 18th. The magazine also signed up with retail app ShopAdvisor, which uses Beacon Technology to alert consumers on their phones when they are in the vicinity of a Barnes & Noble where the issue is sold. Talk about tech-savvy!
Now it gets even better. Not only does Elle US turn 30 this year, Elle France is actually turning 70 as well! So it's actually double the celebration. The bash for both magazines will be held in Paris on October 6th at U.S. Ambassador to France Jane Hartley’s residence in Paris. Although a guest list isn’t yet finalized, O’Malley said it’s going to be the “who’s who” and take place during Paris Fashion Week. So keep an eye out for the September issue and all of the paparazzi shots and photographs from this epic celebration in October!
Cheers to 30 years Elle! We can't wait to see how you devour the details of the next 30!
