27 Is The New 25

In honor of my brother's 27th birthday, I thought I'd share some wonderful party suggestions from the staff at Boston.com. I use Boston.com for a lot of posts because, as you can imagine, they are very well educated on everything about the city. They have endless resources and stay up-to-date on the latest Boston trends. That is why I think this post about where to go for a birthday celebration would be perfect for my brother!

Church

"With a variety of music, soul food, and a cocktail to match each of the seven deadly sins, this may be the only "church" in town where it's appropriate to get a little mischievous.

Bar Manager Ray Guerin's favorite sinful cocktail is Sloth, a play on a Manhattan with Amarena cherries. If whiskey's not your style, perhaps give Envy a try — it's made with vodka and diced kiwi."

Middlesex Longue
315 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge

"Because this hotspot is tucked away in a nondescript building on Massachusetts Avenue, you might just miss Middlesex on your way to a bigger club — which gives it definitive surprise party potential.

"On any given night, we'll have three to four birthday parties at once," says assistant manager Nate Brown. Bonus: The laid-back lounge hosts dance nights almost every night of the week, ranging from soul to hip-hop to electronic, so it's sure to satisfy even the most finicky musical tastes."
