Needless to say, we've already been quite obsessed with Night Shift Brewing, established right in our backyard in Everett, MA, for some time now. Desk workers by day, homebrewers by night, the founding trio started their journey in a Somerville kitchen in 2007, creating brews well past midnight. A true hit amongst family and friends, Night Shift was in demand and proving to be a frontrunner among most commercially available styles and local microbrew beers. It was time to grow.
In 2010, they started writing a business plan to begin their own 'nanobrewery'. By 2011, the Night Shift crew had raised a small amount of capital and began building a 3,000 sq. ft. 3.5BBL brewery in Everett, MA. On Saturday, March 31, 2012, they opened their doors for the very first time. With demand still high and the need for increasing production, Night Shift made the move to a larger facility still in Everett, MA in 2014 and haven't stopped serving with a smile since then.
Night Shift Brewing now works with a 20BBL brewing system, a field of 7BBL, 20BBL, 40BBL, and 60BBL fermenters, and a growing collection of oak barrels. On a daily basis, they welcome guests into their 2500 sq. ft. Taproom so that they can continue to share their beers, space, and story. Their product is currently self-distributed to a group of retail and restaurant partners in MA and will hopefully be in other nearby states by 2016! Night Shift prides themselves on their excellent staff who makes this all possible. They are a team of 30+ talented, creative, hardworking individuals - from bartenders, to brewers, to salespeople, to their dedicated microbiologist/yeast guru. Without all these working parts, they might still be brewing in their Somerville kitchen.
As part of growing their community, other than the fact that the locals love their brews, Night Shift hosts a number of events to get people through the brewery doors. In fact, we're looking forward to attending the Better Bagel Pop-Up at Night Shift this Sunday, August 21 at 12PM-5PM ET. We're calling it, "Brunch After a Night Shift", because attendees are invited to come in, try a few pints and snack on a number of different bagel and spread flavors from Better Bagels Food Truck. And if you work a night shift, what's better than having brunch after clocking out (other than drinking a Night Shift)? Better Bagels is a New York style, hand rolled bagel company. Started by Sam Harden and James Grimes in January of 2014, Better Bagels is dedicated to the tradition and honor of hand crafting the highest quality bagels for the great city of Boston and beyond. They will be opening their first storefront in Boston's Seaport District very soon but you can get a preview of their potential menu items this Sunday at Night Shift Brewing.
Come with us as we head to Everett this weekend and devour the details of brunch after a Night Shift. We hope to see you there!
